Hi! I'm Pretzel! I'm 21 years old and I was born in Japan. I moved to the US when I was 5 years old. I haven't been back since. (boooo!) I really wish I could go back, not only for dolls but for so much more. I have very fond memories of Japan. I don't remember much but what I do remember are all the toys and goodies. Anime, manga, Seiyuu stores, sakura trees and mickey mouse popsicles are all I pretty much remember. But hey, those are good memories, ne?
No. I don't speak Japanese. I can barely barely read it. I have about a 1st grader's understanding of the language. Maybe even worse than that. I've taken Japanese classes, but honestly they didn't help. I had a lousy teacher my first two semesters, so my foundation was really shaky. My second teacher kicked my butt. She was an awesome teacher and I learned a lot more from her than I could ever have learned by my first teacher. So my Japanese isn't that great. Mostly, anytime I have something translated on my web pages, it's all thanks to my mother.
I just graduated from college with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and a minor in Graphic Design. (Yea I know my web page ain't that impressive. There's no java, no cgi, no shockwave, no rave flyer mimicking stuff... I'm trying to keep it simple...) I am already out in the working force. I'm an artist for a growing software company. I don't know if I'd rather be an artist or a programmer instead, but hey, I'm not complaining. It's a really laid back place and the pay is GREAT! (More Jennys for me!)
I do a lot of graphical stuff on the side as a hobby. Making web pages is one of them. Drawing is another. Since I grew up watching cartoons and reading manga like Arale-chan and Urusei Yatsura and Gundam, anime is my chosen style of art. Most of the time for my art, I use regular pen and paper to draw then color in Photoshop. Just recently I learned Flash. My first piece in Flash is very promising. Hopefully you'll be able to see my work using it soon.
I've been collecting Jenny dolls for about 3 years now. As you might have read on my Jenny link, I've had Jennys ever since I was little. Only recently I've been able to acquire Jenny dolls on a regular basis. Now they're everywhere in my house. I sort of leave a trail of Jenny dolls behind me when I walk around the house. (The Jenny fairy?) Whever I am in the house (my room, my computers) Jenny's tend to populate.
I've pretty much stopped collecting Jenny dolls now. My main purchases are her friends! She's got a ba-zillion friends, so I'm trying to... catch them all... I'm doing a good job, I think. I'm working hard and I'm trying to get at least one friend home a month. I'm trying to catch up to my best collector friend, Sher and her complete friends collection. Who's my favorite friend? I can't say. It would be Mitsuki or Lisa.
The other thing I'm into are guy dolls! They're so hard to find, that it makes collecting them all the more rewarding. Currently I have about 12 guys: 10 Jenny boyfriends, 2 custom Volks dolls. I am missing a lot though. I still need to find Tom, Charles and Mike. All my guys are just Jeff and Raph in various versions. I've even customized a few. Next one I'd like to get is Yoshiki.
Well that's pretty much me... more or less. I hope you understood all that... ^_^;
